Romania is the latest eastern European country to strengthen its ties with China.

Speaking at a seminar to mark 60 years of diplomatic links between the two nations, Chinese vice-president Xi Jinping spoke of the value of working together, China View reported.

He also praised Romania for the help it has offered China in recent years, not least its response to the earthquake which hit the Asian nation in 2008.

Mr Xi's comments were echoed by Adrian Nastase, Romanian vice president of Chamber of Deputies and former prime minister.

He pointed out the benefits offered by good links between the two nations and stated that Romania would look to promote friendship between them in order to strength bilateral ties.

Earlier this week, LETA learned that Latvia is looking to strengthen its agricultural links with China.

Forestry is among the areas that Latvia is keen to look at in the near future, the Baltic Course reported.
