Latvia's Foreign Ministry state secretary Andris Teikmanis has met with the Croatian Ambassador to Latvia, who thanked him for Latvia's support to his country during its EU integration process.

Vladimir Matek thanked Latvia for their help during Croatia's EU integration period during a meeting with Mr Teikmanis in Riga, according to LETA, the Latvian Foreign Ministry's press centre.

It appears that neither country was prepared to rest on their laurels or achievements thus far with conversation quickly turning to political and economic relations between the two in the future.

Both sides were firmly in agreement that trade and cooperation between the two countries will only improve once Croatia is part of the EU with Mr Teikmanis reaffirming Latvia's readiness to help in strengthening Croatia's civil service.

Mr Matek, who has been Croatia's ambassador to Latvia for a number years dating back to 2009, currently resides in the Swedish capital, Stockholm.
