A firm founded by Norwegian and Estonian backers is taking a more environmentally-friendly approach to business.
Nordic Houses OU builds traditional log houses and has two plants based just outside Tallinn, the Baltic Times reports.
However, the company's green credentials stretch beyond its end product, with sustainability being key to the way it operates.
Any waste timber created during a project is burnt and used to provide heating for the factories.
The firm also revealed that its demand for quality wood has boosted the standards of local suppliers.
Speaking to the news provider, Argo Saul, Nordic Houses' general manager, explained the relationship with the local workforce is very important.
He said: "Ultimately you can have all the systems you like, but if the people arent committed, you cant be successful. We are looking forward to developing the business with them in future years."
Recently, Hadley Barrett, chief executive officer of the Oxford Sustainable Group, told Investment Week that Estonia is well positioned to recover from the recession when compared to its competitors.
